Mosaic Jelly

I love this! I love this! I love this!.. Hahahaha.. one of the easiest and prettiest jelly to make. EVER.

If there is any occasion where I have to bring something to a party and didnt have time, I will make this. I like it because for one, it's easy to make... and it's always impressive. For another, jelly always sells in a party due to our hot and humid, well, not so hot but still very humid weather these days. And if you have kids in the party, this is what they will go for.

The other reason why I love this is that I can split up the whole making process to suit my timing. I dont necessarily have to do everything at one go. I can split it up.. making the mosaic pieces first and when I have a window time of half hour, I can do the jelly to keep the mosaic in place. Terrific!

Oh yes, this jelly is open for ordering and a whole block can serve quite a few people during a party. Call to enquire!

Rainbow Jellies for Parties

This is an all time favorite in parties especially kids' parties. I make this so often for parents who order them for class parties, birthday parties, whatever parties. I suppose it's pretty and most people take on to jellies easier than any other desserts and it's usually allergy free... hehehehe..

This post is simply to show the prettiness of something that is simple and easy to make.... Life is full of pretty things!

Something pretty for Hot Hot Days

These days are crazy hot!! The sun is blazing brightly, the heat is exceptionally high and painful if you are outdoor and the humidity is all time high.. Everything turns bad fast in such heat. Appetite is also all time low with everyone trying to battle the heat with liquid..

On such times, I only want to eat cold stuff.. koniyaku jellies, all sorts of jellies.. ice lollies, ice creams ooh.. all the sinful cold sweet stuff which is bad for the waist! Hahahahaha... but who cares! I shall sweat it off from the heat.

Anyway, recently a friend went to Tokyo and got me some preseved Sakura flowers... The flowers are preserved in lots of salt and at the first sight, they dont look impressive  but after washing off the salt and soaking it a bit, the flowers bloomed looking very pretty and delicate..

When I saw the flower floating prettily in a cup of water, I was inspired to make a pretty koniyaku just like what Terry from http://hungerhunger.blogspot.com/ did.  Hehehehe... I think it's just so pretty on a hot hot day...

Fun Food @ Foodelicious!

Pancakes!!! Yes, these are fun food... Plenty of fun making them and most definitely, plenty of fun gobbling them up! Hehehehe.. I find pancakes are the most versatile little morsel. You can just have pancakes on its own with butter and syrup, or in my case, blueberry syrup! (slurp!! the best ever) or You can make so many things with pancakes... if you have them small and bite size, it can be made into super delish canapes or hor d'oeuvres. If you have them spread out thinly, you can make wraps and even millie crepe with it. You can have sweet with juicy fruits and cream or custard or if you like it savory, you can them with all your favorite savory items. I love pancakes! Do you??

Bread, Foccasia bread is wickedly yummy. I love the texture of this bread. Very light but not mushy like the normal bread we have. There is a certain bite to the texture and that's what makes it so addictive. I love this as it is.. there is no need to spread anything or have anything with this bread. Just the way it's. If you were to buy this at the shop, it's always either herb and garlic or olives and rosemary.. but if you make this yourself, you can have endless options! I sometimes make this with local herbs since my garden has all sorts of herbs... and the result is awesome!

This batch of jellies I must say is indulgence! Indulgence in whipping up a batch of jellies just for fun to eat especially when I have friends over for movie marathon, Indulgence in buying whatever I like especially cute and unique stuff like these sets of jelly moulds. I just cannot resist!! I am not a spendthrift and most of the time will have to think many many many times when I make a purchase on things like branded goods.. (a bad habit that came about from being poor) but when it comes to things like this, baking stuff, I will not hesitate! Hahahahaha.. these set of moulds are not cheap.. but I bought them anyway... and look what I made out of them??

I think these jellies are just so pretty!! I was rather torn between making these jellies into rainbow layers like I always do or do what I did.. mosaic style. At the end, I chose the mosaic style as I was rather bored and wanted to have some fun. I was glad I did!! Hehehehe.. the mosaic style is just perfect for these moulds and the bees and bugs look so pretty.. woo hooo... By the way, these cuties are for sale... call to find out more!!

Jelly Mooncakes - Calypso , Sunset & Strawberry & Cream

The year has rolled by and here we are again.. the season of lanterns and traditional sweet cakes is about to start.. well, in my case, pretty colorful and flavorful jellies starts! Hehehe.. this year, I have..

Sunset.. this is a combination of fruity passionfruit with vanilla cream filling. Passionfruit is known to have a seductively aroma with sweetish tangy flavor that is very addictive! You cant stop at 1 passionfruit.. it is one after another!! Dangerous! Combine this with a smooth velvety vanilla cream similar to panacotta... yyyuuummmmssss!!

Calypso.. My first taste of coconut and lime combination was in London. It was an ice-cream and I looked at the ice-cream for a long time before I dig in and boy! did I regret not digging in much earlier!! Hahahahaha.. The combination is like a love hate relationship. It is complimenting but yet contrasting.. The coconut dont seem so frightening "jelak" when it is paired up with lime.. and Lime dont seem so unapproachable when it is with coconut. It's one of those you either love it or hate it combination...

This is strawberry and Cream.. A very soothing and pleasing flavor. Something that will never go wrong.. something that everybody will love... An evergreen! This will please any child or child at heart.. hehehee..

These are sold for RM30 in a box of 4 pieces and there is a scheduled delivery dates. Please call to enquire... but in the meantime, I shall go play with my Angry bird lantern..... and make more beautiful jelly mooncakes....

Almond Jellies - An old time favorite..

Ok... this is something I always wanted to try.. I always wanted to order in chinese restaurants but my family will stare and glare at me.. they dont like such things.. for one, it is made of milk and milk and my family are not exactly "pally wally".. next is the almond taste.. they say it taste like bugs.. like they have ever eaten a bug or croackcoach.. well, anyway, I am patient.. hehehe.. and finally, this week, I made my chance to make this for a small party I was going to.. I cant be going with nothing right.... so, a recipe of almond jelly made me a very generous guest! Hehehe..

I did change a few things with this.. I decided not to use evaporated milk because I wont be able to finish the whole can and I dont like the "not here not there" balance of the milk in the tin... and.. I find Malaysian evaporated milk rather very yellow.. it is not white and almond jelly is suppose to be white! It has to be white!! So, I change to using fresh milk.. and I decrease the amount of almond essence.. yes, wouldnt want my host to choke on the bug's life smell.. wahahaha..

The result was splendid!!! it was a bit too sweet for me and I shall adjust the sweetness in my next adventure... other than that... the texture was great... I made this softer.. since it is in individual containers. So, if anyone out there is thinking of having this... call me.. I am selling this.. it is most definitely very very yummms!!!

Jelly Mooncakes - Lychee & Rose, Chocolate & Cheese

Is the time of the year once again! Yes, this year's mooncake festival seem shorter for some reason.. Hmmm.. maybe it is because I have been so busy or could it be that it is too close to Hari Raya? Hmmm.... anyway, this year will be my 3rd year selling Jelly mooncakes and I hope it will be just as fun as the last 2... hehehe..

Once again, I have maintained my bestselling flavors; Cendol, White Coffee, Lemon and add on Tutti Fruitti, which was last year's bestseller. As for this year, Foodelicious presents.....

Chocolate & Cheese - Imported cooking chocolates are used to make the "skin" where else, the filling is made of cream cheese that compliments chocolate very well.

Lychee & Rose - This is unusual combination but you will be surprised! Lychee and Rose compliments each other very well and more so in jellies. I was so undecided if I should have the rose as the "skin" or filling and at the very last minute, I just went along with my feeling... Rose as filling and I am very happy with the result! Hehehe..

Oh! I did add some chopped lychee into the rose filling for texture.. hehehe... and it is very yumms...

As for pricing, each box of 4 is sold at RM28 or individually at RM8. I have a scheduled delivery dates set up this year and the dates are 1st, 6th, 9th, 13th 17th, 20th and 21st September all in time to celebrate Chung chow....

Lunch @ Foodelicious!

Lunch at Foodelicious was served at 1.30pm and the menu was :-

Thai Glass Noodle Kerabu - Some people call it tanghoon, some people call it soh hun.. but they are delicious eaten cold with all sorts of fragant herbs and vegetables flavored with the 5 taste of life. A little bit sweet, a little bit tangy, a little bit salty, a little bit spicy...

This is excellent in such hot and humid weather...

Otak - Otak.. It is a nyonya dish which apparently originated from bygone era european seamen. I was told that it was the Dutch seamen that introduced this dish. These seamen preserved their fish dish by flavoring with herbs and have it all wrapped up in cloth and steamed. As it was wrapped in cloth, it does not have the nice smooth surface but instead it looks like brain especially since it was white, soft and squishy. Hence the name.

Of course, the innovative nyonyas added their signature into this dish by spicing it up! By the way, did you all know that this is a common dish amongst seafaring europeans of today such as the Scandinavian countries. Theirs is also slightly spicy as they acquired the spices from South Africa?

A big thank you to Chin See for enlightening us with this history...

Curry puff - A well known snack that is everybody's favorite! Of course, this wasnt so pretty as it should be for some reason. I blame it on the weather. It has been exceptionally hot and humid these past weeks and handling the oil based pastry was simply.. challenging is a mild way of putting it. The uniqueness of this pastry is that it has an oil and water based pastries.. combined and it will give you a very crispy and light pastry that will not go soft and chewy like rubberband.

As for the filling, I made it with potatoes and chunks of chicken fillet. Please note it is chunks and not minced chicken meat. I dont like minced chicken meat in my curry puff or pies. It is just not happening. No style!! Anyway, I didnt flavour it too spicy as I wanted to entice the kids with this.

Jelly - An evergreen dessert that is refreshing and welcomed in this heat and humidity! This is coffee jelly that I fashioned into layers with milk. It is really no fun eating something that is just plain old sweet.. life must have some hint of bitterness to make it exciting!

And of course, we had the ever famous popiah.. make ourselves popiah.. put whatever you like in your popiah or in Brandon's case, dont put anything but the sauce on the popiah (skin).. That was Brandon's style of popiah...

Here we have the condiments, the main star, the skin and sauce and final product..

And of course, the final product!!

The best part of it all was the company! I had great fun hosting this lunch. Thank you for making my Sunday fun..

Jellies - A present for you

I was looking all over the place for this mould... I had actually saw this mould eons ago at some shopping center but didnt buy it then because it was too expensive for me at that time and had regretted it since. So, when I saw this mould again, I grab it even though it cost 200% more than the earlier, I cannot afford it price!! Should have begged, borrowed and steal the money then! Hehehe..

Anyway, I made a jelly out of this mould.. This was sold for RM80.

Jelly Mooncakes

Dont you just love lantern festival? When I was young, I used to have a hard time choosing a lantern amongst the many beautiful ones hanging high above my head in Kedai runcit. The one lantern that I really wish I could have was the old fashion trolley looking one with wings and when you push it, the wings will flap!! I used to wait outside my house just to see other children walk by with that lantern... sigh.. I wish I could buy that lantern now and if I could, I will buy plenty!

So, to play with lanterns and eat mooncakes are part of Chinese culture and this year I have created 2 new flavors to add on my last year's bestsellers. The flavours for this year are :-

Lemon with yogurt filling
Dragon fruit with yogurt filling
White Coffee with yogurt filling
Cendol
Tutti Fruitti
Bubur Cha Cha

These are sold 4 in a pretty box at RM25 or individually at RM7.50. Deliveries are made on the following dates; 23rd, 25th, 28th 30th September and 2nd October.
