Foodelicious!

The best part about this cake business is to see the joy and excitement on a child's face when you bring the cake to him.... No amount of money or compliments can bring so much satisfaction! And IAN, the little boy who was on his tricycle did just that when he saw me standing at his gate with his cake. His squeal of delight and expression of happiness just made my day...

This cake is a fairly small cake weighing in at 2.2kg in french vanilla flavour and was sold for RM240 inclusive of toy cars.

The weather has been very perfect for me lately.. rainy and cooling and that just inspire me to cook! Hehehe.. I am not a big fan of hot, humid and sunny weather. For some reason, such weather always makes me very irritable and sleepy. Hence, when the rain comes, I am very cheerful and creative!

The above was what I whipped up for dinner yesterday. Roast chicken leg with potato salad and loads of garden greens.. (iceberg lettuce, wild rocket and cherry tomatoes) dressed up in balsamic vinegar. I must say, such menu are easy peasy for working people like me.. boil the potatoes, mix it all up with herbs and mayo to make a salad while the chicken leg is roasting in the oven, make the gravy, clean the garden greens. When chicken leg is ready, just assemble and ATTACK! Wahahaha!

Scrumptious and in many ways, healthy too... All done in a mere 1.5 hours.

What prompted me to make these soft and chewy, not to mentioned, awesome loads of cookies was the fact that my girl requested for it and usually, I will get a piece or two from Bakin' Boyz.. yes, I do buy cookies as treats to my girl not so much that I can't make them but more for the fact that it is good to check out what's in the market and try out other bakers' specialities. However, this time around, the staff at Bakin' Boyz were extremely rude and they tried to pass off yesterday's batch of cookies as fresh to me... and that to me is bad business etiquette!

So, with no cookies in hand to treat my girl, I came home and whipped up a batch, well, in this case, 2 batches of the following cookies...

These are Black Gold! You either love them or simply get addicted to them. It is a super rich soft and chewy dark chocolate cookies loaded with peanuts, chocolate chips and peanut butter. One bite and you will know what sin is all about...

A 2kg marbled butter cake fashioned into a sahara Grand Prix for a 4 years old boy... This was sold at RM180 inclusive of cars.

This is also known as Acar Buah Jeruk and usually served in wedding kenduri. It is not easily available at any place or restaurants or supermarkets or cafes.. hence, I made them for sale! I usually have pickled mangoes, all sorts of pickled plums and kumquats, nutmeg in chunks and julienne and raisins all mixed up with a kaleidescope of spices and dried chilis.. It is simply addictively yummy!

This acar buah jeruk or pickled fruit chutney is good with rice, crackers, bbq or simply on its own...... A bottle of approximately 500gm is sold at RM25.

My favorite cake.. the classic old fashion butter cake.. in this case, a marbled cake. This post is to show the texture of the many different types of butter cake I make. I like my butter cake to have a firm structure but yet moist and buttery. A good slice of the cake should fill me up nicely with a warm fuzzy feel good feeling...aaaaahhhh... I am not a big fan of cakes that are all fluffy, soft and fine.. it reminds me of eating cotton and trust me, eating cotton is not very pretty or nice!

The flavors I have are...the down to earth french vanilla, the addictive chocolate, the seductive chocolate & mocha, the fashionable lemon, the alluring orange, the chic flick lemon and lime. Than there are the swirl & twirls range of marble, the basic ebony & Ivory and mambo jumbo which is actually vanilla, lemon and chocolate. These are awesome!

These old fashion butter cakes are usually fashioned into birthday cakes as they are sturdy but yet moist and soft enough to carry the weight of icing needed to make a child's imagination becomes a reality!
